Battery Unit Relays

Relays, relays, relay, relays ….

Battery relays.

Battery relays.

Each battery unit has two lots of six, 2 pole change over relays (2PDT).  There are six ‘signal’ and two ‘power’ connections per relay so that’s 96 connections in total.  There are wires everywhere.

The high wattage resistor is to limit the peak surge currents when first switching the charge circuits on.  Hot melt glue can be seen on each end of the resister to give some mechanical strength to the connections, the same goes for the relay’s power connections.

The relay’s connections are of solid silver so will have a low resistance and also match (as far as possible) other signal wires and connections.
